Public Invited to Attend Save a Life Saturday for Families, September 26

For Immediate Release
TUCSON -- September 17, 2009 -- The Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Red Cross will host the 10th annual Save a Life Saturday for Families, Sept. 26, 2009 at a new location, The Springs Apartment Homes, and is open to the public.
This year, we’ve seen a record number of atrocities right here in our own community from apartment complex fires to children drowning in pools. To help spread the word about home and pool safety, and teach people necessary skills to save lives, Save a Life Saturday for Families will feature live water safety demonstrations — guests are invited to wear their swim suits to practice life saving skills in two pools available. Families will also learn how to escape a house fire, build a 72-hour disaster response kit with items they have at home, come to the aid of someone who’s choking, and more. All guests will be entered to win a shopping spree or a flat screen TV and other great prizes.
“We offer this fun event every year so that children and families are ready and able to handle emergencies. If what we teach on Saturday saves just 1 life, then it is well worth the effort.” said Richard White, Executive Director of the Southern Arizona chapter.
Other highlights include: - First 500 families will receive a free first aid kit. - Free DNA Child Safety Kits for the whole family, courtesy of New York Life (while supplies last) - CPR & First Aid Demonstrations - Pet adoptions, courtesy of PetSmart
