1. What services does the American Red Cross Southern Arizona Chapter provide?

Since 1916, the Southern Arizona Chapter has provided:

  • Disaster assistance for victims of natural disasters and acts of war.
  • Emergency preparedness training for families, businesses, and neighborhood groups.
  • Emergency communications linking military families with their Armed Forces, National Guard or Reserve member.
  • CPR, First Aid and other lifesaving training.
  • Reunification services helping families locate and obtain information about relatives from whom they were separated because of acts of war.

2. Where does Red Cross get its funding?

Your local Red Cross depends entirely on gifts from individuals, businesses and foundations. Your local Red Cross does not receive any government funding.

3. How can I include the Red Cross at my event or speaking opportunity?

If your school, organization or club would like to have the Red Cross speak at your event, please call (520) 318-6740, or (800) 341-6943.

4. Is Red Cross a government agency?

While Congressionally chartered to assist victims of disasters and other emergencies, Red Cross is not a government agency.

6. Can I donate money to help a specific family?

Unfortunately, Red Cross cannot accept donations earmarked for specific families. However, you can direct your gift to Local Disaster Relief to help local families in need. Following each disaster, our staff and volunteers assess families' needs on a case by case basis and disburse funds in accordance with National Red Cross guidelines.

7. When did the International Red Cross accept the Magen David Adom?

In May 2006, the International Red Cross voted to admit the Magen David Adom.
